Period Dignity: tackling period poverty in Nigeria
The Period Dignity Project addresses period poverty in Nigeria through access to menstrual products, health education, product safety awareness and partnerships.
Why we started this project
Menstrual products are essential.
Yet for many girls and women, access to reliable products can be affected by cost, availability, limited information, and concerns about counterfeit or substandard sanitary pads.
The presence of products that may not meet expected quality standards makes menstrual product awareness and safety an important part of menstrual health. At the same time, girls and women who cannot consistently access appropriate menstrual products may have to improvise, miss school or work, limit their activities, or manage their periods with unnecessary discomfort and embarrassment.
We believe the conversation should go beyond simply providing pads. It should also be about what people are using, what they know about menstrual health, where they can access reliable products, and how we can support them with dignity.

What the project is about
Practical support, education and awareness
Through this initiative, We Elevate Foundation aims to combine practical support with education and awareness. Our work will focus on:
Providing menstrual products and essential period-care supplies.
Promoting menstrual health education and awareness.
Raising awareness about counterfeit and substandard menstrual products.
Encouraging informed and safer choices when purchasing menstrual products.
Supporting girls and women who face barriers to accessing menstrual essentials.
Developing educational materials that make menstrual health information easier to understand.
Working with healthcare professionals, businesses, organizations, and supporters to expand the project's reach.
Access Matters. Safety Matters. Dignity Matters.
What we stand for
Access
No girl or woman should have to struggle to obtain basic menstrual essentials simply because they are unavailable or unaffordable.
Product Awareness
Growing concerns about counterfeit and substandard sanitary pads make it important for consumers to understand the products they purchase and use.
Education
Better information can help girls and women understand menstrual health, make informed choices, and know when to seek appropriate support.
Dignity
Managing a period should not mean missing school, work, important activities, or everyday life because the necessary products and information are out of reach.
Our goal
Safer, more accessible, better understood, more dignified
Our goal is to help make menstrual care safer, more accessible, better understood, and more dignified. We want to contribute to a future where girls and women can access menstrual essentials they can trust, understand their menstrual health, and manage their periods with confidence.
